Seek Wholeheartedly

Finding God: A Divine Journey by Rev. Chervang K. Vang (2015):

Indeed, the most powerful miracle I have ever seen happened to me. The miracle happened when I was born again and filled with the Spirit of God. After that miracle, I was forever changed. I became a new person, walking a different way of life, understanding and seeing things differently, knowing and learning differently than before. The greatest miracle is the miracle of a life changed for all of eternity; a heart touched by and changed by the Almighty God of the universe! (p. 138)

High in the mountains the sun was setting over the horizon of the mountain tops. Within a matter of minutes it was gone and evening came. The sky became a blanket of endless twinkling stars. She felt close to the heavens; so close as if she could reach out to touch the stars. The brisk night air brushed against her face sending chills throughout the body. Accompanied only by her mom at the campsite they both entered into the safety of the car. As they waited for the rest of the campers to return for the evening, a general conversation about life began. Earthly needs and wants were discussed; hopes and dreams for the family, siblings, children and grandchildren and immediate priorities - such as what to cook for dinner over the campfire. :)

Abroad the many discussions, there was one she desired to have most– receiving the Holy Spirit. However, it was clearly not the time or place. She began a vague conversation sharing how she was inspired by her father, mother and loved ones who were doing free, noble work – a call that others may not accept, let alone consider, but one that is so fulfilling and with the promise of eternal life.

The world created in us a mindset of wanting more (Proverbs 27:20), needing more, searching for more, but you see, she had the things she needed: loving, supportive family and friends; health; education; financial stability; and happiness; yet, knew something was missing. Alone and in silence she searched to fill the emptiness in her heart.

God’s timing is not like ours (Proverbs 3:5-6). That night, in a car, during a camping trip, she received her miracle. It was in the most unexpected time; the most unexpected place, but in the moment that she needed it most. She had been feeling indeterminately empty, hopeless and constrained by reputation, weary from inconsonant, filled with unnecessary thoughts, and longingness in the depths of her heart. In reminisce, she believed it was truly the work of the devil casting self-doubt to keep her away from seeking the Holy Spirit.

I found my miracle that night, in the car, during a camping trip. I am ever grateful to my mom for being with me and for her love for God. Somehow, she knew and was ever so willing to join me in prayer and speak in tongue. At this most unexpected moment, she led me to receive the Holy Spirit. She paved the way for me to lead a new life. God wants to give us a new life, one that is blessed. Choose today to find your miracle. Seek God wholeheartedly and you will receive the Holy Spirit. I promise.

" Ask and it shall be given to you:

Seek and you will find;

Knock and it shall be opened to you." Matthew 7 : 7

In Romans 12:2 we are transformed and discover a new way of living in Christ. As I walk this journey I ask the Holy Spirit to guide me.

Below is a short video of my bible journaling process. I’ve incorporated the new Hmong script, Nyiaken Puachue Hmong. The script was created by my father Rev. Chervang Kong in the 1980’s and used widely within our church.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2 (NKJV)

If you haven’t picked up your Finding God book yet it’s never too late! I definitely recommend this book as you will see the many ways God has worked and continues to work in the author’s life and how God too is working in yours.

Thank you so much for spending time with me today and I hope this inspired you to find your miracle. Join us again for next month’s blog.

Until we meet again, may God bless and watch over you, always!

Warmly,

Maysua Chervunkong
